Half of Me
I thrive in all
things halved
Half a song, half
a thought
Half a moon,
plied and dwarfed
Half a dream,
sold and bought
Entirety and I
have never agreed
It walked me
mid-way and left my side
Extremes
balanced, none the same breed
Chasing to
complete me when I run and hide
Strongly
enclosing one precious dime
I was born with
this stubborn, clenched fist
Half a dime, I
wittingly gave up to time
The other
conserved jealously in storm and mist
Half of my heart
went to the world
Half caved in the
dark and cold
Half in love like
a bud unfurled
Half angst and
spite enfold
Only ever sing
half my song
Only ever show
half my face
Half-written this
poem, if you read along
Risks half of
you, half is safe
All or nothing is
the rule and the game
A doting or
loathing heart takes my blame
Halfway lies my
all, halfway nothing be
Halfway I stop
for you’ll only ever have…
…..Half of me
